Antique mechanical brass air meter or vane anemometer, likely dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. Instruments of this type were used to measure airflow in mines, tunnels, ducts, and other ventilation systems.

This unusual pedestal-style instrument features a multi-register circular dial connected to a rotating metal vane fan. The fan turns, and the large central indicator moves when the fan rotates, showing that at least part of the internal mechanism remains engaged. No other functions have been tested, and the accuracy, calibration, and operation of the smaller registers are unknown.

The construction closely resembles early Woods or Abraham-style air meters; however, the dial is too worn to confirm a maker, model, or serial number. It is therefore being sold as an unattributed antique scientific instrument.

This piece is in heavily worn, unrestored condition. The fan housing is bent and misshapen, several vanes are bent or misaligned, and the dial face has extensive scratching, oxidation, discoloration, and loss of its original lettering. The protective dial glass or crystal is missing. Additional tarnish, verdigris, finish loss, spotting, scratches, and age-related wear are present throughout. No case, paperwork, or accessories are included.

Sold strictly AS IS for restoration, parts, study, or display. It is not represented as fully functional or suitable for accurate measurement. Please examine all photographs carefully for condition.
