Product Description

The BRIGGS STRATTON 797282 is a genuine OEM air cleaner gasket designed to seal the air cleaner assembly to the carburetor or engine intake on small gasoline engines. This gasket prevents unfiltered air from bypassing the air filter element and entering the engine, protecting internal components from dust, debris, and premature wear. Measuring 4.02 inches by 4.02 inches with a 0.24-inch thickness and constructed from plastic, this factory replacement part meets original equipment specifications. Licensed HVAC and small engine technicians, as well as qualified service professionals, rely on OEM gaskets to maintain proper sealing integrity during air cleaner service or carburetor replacement.

This gasket is used in small engine applications where the air cleaner housing must form a secure, airtight connection with the engine intake or carburetor body. Typical installation scenarios include air cleaner assembly rebuild, carburetor service, and routine maintenance on walk-behind mowers, generators, pressure washers, and similar equipment powered by Briggs and Stratton small engines. Using the correct OEM part number ensures a proper fit and eliminates fitment issues associated with aftermarket alternatives.

Installation Notes

Installation is typically performed by small engine service technicians or qualified equipment mechanics. Shut off the engine and allow it to cool completely before disassembling the air cleaner housing. Remove the old gasket and clean mating surfaces before installing the new gasket to ensure a proper seal. Do not over-torque fasteners securing the air cleaner assembly, as this can deform the gasket and compromise the seal.
