Product Description

The RHEEM sp14269e is a liquid propane gas control thermostat engineered for residential water heating systems. It regulates gas flow to the burner assembly, maintaining stable combustion and accurate temperature control throughout the heating cycle. The unit weighs 2.88 pounds and measures 14.88 inches in length, width, and height. Licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians install this control as a direct service replacement when a faulty gas valve or thermostat causes inconsistent water temperatures, burner lockout, or pilot failure on propane-fired water heaters.

This control is suited for propane-fueled residential water heaters where the gas valve and thermostat function are combined into a single unit. It is a common service part on storage-tank water heaters that rely on a standing pilot or electronic ignition with integrated temperature regulation. Technicians replacing a failed or out-of-calibration gas control will find this part appropriate for restoring normal burner operation and temperature setpoint accuracy.

Installation Notes

Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified HVAC technician in accordance with local gas codes and the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC). Shut off the propane supply at the tank or service valve and allow the water heater to cool before beginning work. Purge the gas line of residual pressure before disconnecting the existing control, and verify all connections for leaks using an approved leak-detection solution after reinstallation. Do not restore gas service until all fittings are confirmed leak-free and the pilot or ignition sequence is verified per the equipment manufacturer instructions.
