The Tektronix P6137 is a compact, 10X passive voltage probe with 400 MHz bandwidth, 1 MΩ input resistance, and ~10–11 pF input capacitance, designed for low‑loading measurements on Tektronix 2400‑series and compatible oscilloscopes.

Quick guide

Scope compatibility: intended for Tektronix 2400‑series scopes (2432/A/M, 2440/MU, 2445B, 2465B, 2467B/HD).
Key specs to verify: 400 MHz bandwidth, 10X attenuation, 1 MΩ // ~10–12 pF input loading, 1.5 m cable typical.
Accessories: small‑geometry tips, ground collar, KlipChip/miniature adapters; confirm included kit for dense PCB work.

Technical overview

Core electrical specifications

Bandwidth: 400 MHz (suitable for many bench‑level digital and analog signals).
Attenuation: 10X readout encoded on the probe for straightforward scale interpretation.
Input impedance: 1 MΩ in parallel with ~10–12 pF input capacitance (datasheet lists ~10.8 pF typical), giving moderate loading appropriate for general‑purpose probing.
Maximum input voltage: rated for several hundred volts (datasheet shows 400 VDC + peak AC limit for the P6137 variant); always confirm the exact rating on your unit.

Mechanical and construction details

Form factor: compact, small‑geometry probe head and lightweight, flexible cable to ease access to crowded PCBs and reduce mechanical stress on DUT.
Modularity: hybrid/SMT circuitry and modular accessories let you swap tips and adapters (BNC, miniature tips, IC grabbers) for different tasks.

Typical applications

General bench measurements, debugging, and service where 400 MHz bandwidth and moderate loading are sufficient. Good for analog signals, audio‑band to RF‑adjacent work, and many digital buses that do not require GHz‑class probes.

Limitations, risks, and practical tips

Loading tradeoff: ~10 pF capacitance can distort very high‑speed edges; for sub‑nanosecond rise‑time work use a higher‑bandwidth or active probe.
Voltage limits: do not exceed the probe’s DC/AC rating; use attenuators or differential probes for higher voltages.
Calibration and condition: verify probe compensation and inspect the cable/connector for wear when buying used; performance depends on intact accessories and correct compensation.
