Important Shipping Information

Shipping items requires specialized, durable packing to ensure your purchase arrives safely and intact. Heavy packages put much greater stress on boxes and packing materials, so using new, heavy-duty boxes and robust cushioning is essential.

We do not use reused abused boxes or low-standard packing materials for heavy auction items. Abused boxes can be weakened from previous use and may fail during shipping.
We use reinforced packaging and strong cushioning to protect your item from impacts and rough handling during transit.
Carriers often apply additional surcharges and may handle heavy packages more roughly, making proper packing even more important.

This is why our shipping fee may seem higher than expected: The cost reflects our commitment to using the best materials and methods to ensure your item arrives in the best possible condition.

Thank you for your understanding and for valuing the care we take in shipping your purchase!

Fluke 720A Kelvin-Varley Divider – Seven-Decade Precision Ratio Standard – Parts / Repair

Bring a classic of precision metrology to your restoration bench! The Fluke 720A Kelvin-Varley Divider is a seven-decade, passive precision ratio instrument designed for demanding voltage-ratio measurements and standards-laboratory work. With fine mechanical dial control, a precision resistive divider network, and built-in self-calibration provisions, the 720A represents an impressive era of laboratory engineering. This example is offered as a restoration project or parts donor for the experienced technician, metrology enthusiast, or vintage Fluke collector—not as a working or calibrated ratio standard.

High-Level Specifications

Manufacturer: Fluke
Model: 720A Kelvin-Varley Divider
Passive precision resistive voltage divider; no operating power supply required
Seven decades of ratio adjustment using seven front-panel dials
Published ratio range: 0 to 1.0 using the 1.0 input tap; 0 to 1.1 using the 1.1 input tap
Published resolution: 0.1 ppm of input
Published absolute linearity: ±0.1 ppm of input under specified conditions
Nominal input resistance: 100 kΩ at the 1.0 input; 110 kΩ at the 1.1 input
Built-in self-calibration bridge and front-panel adjustment provisions

Specifications above describe published model capabilities only, not the present performance of this unit. The observed readings below indicate abnormal operation. Original accuracy, linearity, resistance values, and calibration are not guaranteed.

Condition / Observed Readings

Passive divider, sold for parts or repair.
With the selector in OPR and all seven dials set to zero, resistance measured between the 1.0 input HIGH and LOW terminals was approximately 10 kΩ high at 110k Ohm.
With the selector in OPR and all seven dials set to zero, resistance measured between the output HIGH and LOW terminals was approximately 130 kΩ.
With the selector in OPR and all seven dials set to zero, output measured approximately 19% of the applied input voltage.
Example observed reading: approximately 1.0 VDC applied to the 1.0 input produced approximately 190 mV at the output.
Some terminals have damaged plastic or missing insulators.
No feet.
No certificate of calibration is included.
Used condition with normal marks, scuffs, and scratches from laboratory use.
Good cosmetic condition overall, subject to the disclosed terminal damage. Please see photos for the actual appearance and condition.

The readings above are observations, not a diagnosis or verification of correct operation. This unit is not functioning as a verified precision ratio standard and will require evaluation before use. The cause and extent of the faults have not been established. Additional problems may be present; plan on troubleshooting, repair, and calibration.

Included / Not Included

Fluke 720A Kelvin-Varley Divider only.
No accessories, no cables, no probes, and no manuals are included.
No certificate of calibration is included.

Sale Terms
