Product Description

The DEE ZEE DZ43102 is a tailgate assist designed to control the descent of a pickup truck tailgate, preventing the uncontrolled drop and impact that stresses factory cables and hinge points. Built from alloy steel, this unit works in conjunction with the factory tailgate cables rather than replacing them. It ships with all required mounting hardware and installs without drilling, making it a straightforward add-on for a licensed technician or experienced installer. The controlled lowering motion reduces wear on factory components and eliminates the sharp impact load that occurs during an unassisted drop.

This tailgate assist is designed specifically for 2007-2018 Chevrolet and GMC 1500 pickups and 2007-2019 Chevrolet and GMC HD 2500 and 3500 pickups. Each unit is custom-fit to the specific year, make, and model, so hardware alignment and function are consistent with OEM geometry. It is a common install for fleet maintenance shops, truck upfitters, and independent installers servicing light-duty and heavy-duty GM trucks in these model year ranges.

Before beginning, ensure the tailgate is fully closed and the truck is parked on a level surface with the ignition off.
